My Honest Checklist for Every Project

Quality isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about how effectively your website serves its visitors

I believe every site should be a thoughtful digital tool that works seamlessly for its users, whether you’re on a tight budget or scaling up your business. When I build a website, I ask myself: “Will this site make life easier and more enjoyable for my visitors?” Here’s my honest, no-fluff checklist that I run through on every project.

✅ My 8-Point “Good Website” Checklist

1. Fast Load Time Nobody has the time to wait. A slow site is like arriving late to an important meeting. Why it matters: Speed is the first impression. When visitors can’t access content quickly, they bounce—and you lose trust before you even say hello.

2. Mobile-Friendly Design Today’s audience is everywhere—on phones, tablets, and desktops alike. Why it matters: A mobile-friendly site ensures that your message reaches everyone, no matter where they are. If your site isn’t optimized for mobile, you’re leaving half your visitors behind.

3. Clear Messaging Your site should speak clearly: Who are you? What do you do? Why should visitors care? Why it matters: When your core message is lost in the noise, your audience has to guess what you’re about—and guesswork rarely leads to trust.

4. Easy Navigation Your visitors should never feel like they’re on a scavenger hunt. Why it matters: Smooth navigation builds confidence. If users can find what they need without frustration, they’re more likely to stick around and engage.

5. Visual Hierarchy Highlight the information that matters most—be it your call-to-action, key benefits, or contact details. Why it matters: A well-structured layout guides visitors naturally through your content, ensuring they absorb your most important points first.

6. Consistent Branding Your fonts, colors, and tone should echo your brand’s personality across every page. Why it matters: Consistency not only looks professional—it builds trust. When every element aligns, visitors know you’re serious about quality.

7. Clear Call-to-Actions (CTAs) Whether it’s “Get in Touch,” “View Portfolio,” or “Start a Project,” your next steps should be crystal clear. Why it matters: Without clear CTAs, your site is like a store with no checkout counter—visitors might admire your work, but they won’t take action.

8. SEO Fundamentals Good SEO isn’t about stuffing keywords; it’s about making your site discoverable and user-friendly.Why it matters: A beautiful site is useless if no one sees it.

Proper SEO ensures that your target audience finds your digital tool when they need it most.

🔍 Quick Self-Check: Is Your Website Hitting the Mark?

Ask yourself:

  • Does it load in just a few seconds?

  • Is it easy to navigate, even on a smartphone?

  • Can someone understand what you do within the first few seconds?

  • Are your CTAs clear and inviting?

If you’re not 100% confident in any of these areas, it might be time for a tune-up.
